A Contest!

As I have been mentioning of late, I'm beginning to gear the travelling show aspect of my business more in the medieval/renaissance direction. My friends and co-conspirators Kate and Sarah are more or less on board with this, but Kate isn't a huge fan of playing dress-up. In a recent conversation, however, we managed to come up with an idea that she was enthusiastic about: a cute little kilt with a renaissance-y sort of bodice, handknit, of course. Period flavor without going overboard into full blown costume.

That's where you come in! You see, Kate and I both have our plates a little full lately to throw in any more knitting projects. Plus, I'd love to have said bodice done up in my one of my yarns and add the pattern to my burgeoning collection. So I've decided to set up a design contest. Submissions are due by August 10th, emailed to me (gryphon AT sanguinegryphon DOT com) and to Kate (katechiocchio AT verizon DOT net), the winner will be selected and yarn sent out by the 15th, and the finished product is due by September 20th. The winning pattern will of course be published and half the proceeds from each sale go to the designer, and the designer also gets 2 skeins of the yarn of their choice from my Etsy shop. For details on submitting click on the 'Call for Submissions' link on the sidebar. You may design for any of the yarns shown there except Rembrandt and Vivaldi, or for my new yarns which I will photograph and add soon: a worsted weight silk singles (Icelandic), a bulky 12-ply cashmere, a laceweight silk/cashmere, and a fingering wieght 2-ply silk.

********Kate notes that she prefers something modest in the neck-line department********

You are responsible for me thinking of joining SCA. My knitwear design skills are not up to desinging for some one else yet.

This is a great idea! I'm tempted to go sketch some bodices. . .
